This is a maintenance release that mostly consists of bug fixes and a few QoL improvements.
-
Use Vulkan by default on Windows. Previous version used Direct3D 12 by default due to a change in the SDL library, which didn't seem to work correctly for many Windows 10 users.
-
Windows version now asks to choose the rendering backend on startup. This is necessary because we can't provide a reliable default and fallback for this platform due to the state of its GPU drivers.
-
Fixed toggling fullscreen from the options menu causing the game window to rapidly switch back and forth between fullscreen and windowed modes.
-
Fixed some minor background rendering errors, in particular in the non-OpenGL backends.
-
Fixed a crash that occurred when attempting to enter the Stage Practice menu for a difficulty that the user has never played before.
-
Fixed the binary releases not working on some old CPUs that don't support AVX instructions.
-
The Switch homebrew build is back.
-
Improved FPS limiter accuracy on some systems.
-
Fixed "System" language option always defaulting to English on some systems.
-
Implemented dialogue title cards for bosses. Better late than never, I suppose.
-
Added options to adjust the background brightness, contrast, and saturation.
-
Greatly improved visibility of Iku's cloud bullets in Stage 5.
-
Minor localization improvements. In particular, the French text now fits within the HUD layout.
-
Made saving progress and configuration more robust, which should fix rare progress loss when saving is interrupted (e.g. due to power loss or forced shutdown).
